I've just borrowed a game from the shop, an expansion pack for the sims 2, and everytime i play it, it freezes. I only have it for overnight and i was to play it but it keeps stuffing up!
My opp system is win 98, if that makes ne difference, but i dont have many programs on my pc.. so i dont know why it would b freezing.?
Is there anything i can download for this to stop for the time being?

    thanks greatly,

    Eleanor.

Do your PC specs cover at least the min ( which will play the game slowly ) http://thesims2.ea.com/help/detail.php?help_id=21 these games are graphically intense.

also at what point does it freeze.. does it install ok?
any error messages if so what?

couldnt check for any update patches or FAQs at EA as their site is down at present for maintanence.

plus as your a day ahead of me no doubt you've taken the expansion pack back.

Posting your computer Specifications would be a massive help , especially with the game , as Halo said , being graphically intense.

I think if you run the test on this site , Pc Pitstop it should tell you your specs , and graphics card etc. Post them here . ( Main ones would be amount of RAM , Speed of processor and Graphics card ) .

This system has enough power for most applications and web browsing, but will not give you the best experience for fast-action games, video editing, and computing-intensive work. If you are mainly using it for web browsing, you can probably get by with a few simple upgrades and regular system maintenance. Otherwise, consider buying a new system.

You have a very slow processor and not enough RAM, sims 2 is just too intense for your system, a 700mhz win98m machine is pretty ancient, it is time you get an upgrade, I would reccomend the AMD athlon 64 series for a cheap fast cpu, and get a computer with a pci-e slot so you can upgrade your video card, onboard video doesn't cut it for gaming, and your 9200 is probaby agp judging by the speed of that system.

Oh ok then, Well…I don’t want to pay an arm and I leg for a new pc when when im the only one that uses it. I only use it for my assignments and that’s even very rare…I just go on the internet to check my emails and chat to a few people. I rarely use it and when I play the odd game its only for a couple of days and I delete it anyway..

Im not going to buy a new one but I think a upgrade would be good..any suggestions for a upgrade?
Actually on that note…a friend burnt me a xp installing cd. I tried to install it but it doesn’t recognise my modem or something? So I cant use that.

The only thing that i think that u can do that wont cost an arm or a leg is to maybe upgrade your ram.

Will allow you to get some extra juice out of your computer.:)

Aslo if you cant install windows xp, might wanna try windows 2000 instead.

    Just some sujestions.

yeah, RAM is the only affordable upgrade you could do, for the most part your machine is too old to be upgraded, and win XP would probably run like crap on it.

There's no point changing your operating system.

If you have 98 SE, leave it at that.

Extra RAM would help, however, if you've been happy with the PC, then just leave it.

It's fine for general use, just not for 3D games.

If you like games, look for simple or older ones, or ones that match your PC's specs.
