My harddrive space keeps vanishing!!

Can somebody please tell me what the hell is going on with my computer? I've had this problem with my C: drive for as long as I can remember. Yesterday when I checked, it said I had roughly around 295GB. I haven't installed ANYTHING since yesterday. IN FACT, I've deleted a ton of files so that should have CLEARED UP more space. Instead, now I have 288GB! Why in the world does this keep happening!? I've lost fifty gigs in the past week randomly!

 

You could use a program like windirstat to find perhaps what I going on. Though, there are other paid for solutions to monitor what is taking up space on a day to day situation. Not sure if you want to go that route.

TreeSize File v2.5 from http://www.jam-software.com/treesize_free/ will detail how much space all Folders use on your drive/s.

Double clicking on a Folder will detail space taken up by each Sub Folder/file in that Folder.

To use TreeSize File:
Click on File,
then Select Directory,
then Computer,
then Local Disk (C), or whatever drive you want to check.

Wait a minute or 2, while the program computes the info from your selected drive. See attachment.
