my internal DVD burner isn't working.... any suggestions?

okay, so i'm using Alcohol 120%, Image Burning Wizard, dvd never makes it to 1% finished. (by the way CD's play fine when i insert then into the drive)

Down in the lower left hand corner of the recording wizard, i'm seeing what looks like a drive with a little "though" blurb that shows a red exlamation point... probably not good.... anyway it doesnt even sound like my goddamn disc drive is spinning.... the dvd image doesnt burn, error log is as follows (I'm running windows XP home edition on a HP Pavillion zt3010 us laptop)

any suggestions? i tried disabling the device and then enabling it. Doesnt work. I tried reinstalling all the drivers from my Driver Recovery CD provided for system restore. didnt work. It doesnt even sound like my cd is spinning in the drive. this is killing me.

I've found that DVD burners are very sensitve to the media that you're using. What brand of blank DVDs are you using. I would try the same operation again with a Maxell or Memorex disc before concluding that it is not working.

But then, I'm someone who has been scorned by poor media far too many times.
