Mystery IM app...?

Hello! I've followed the steps exactly in the malware removal thread, yet I have a problem that lingers.

Whenever I use instant messaging apps (specifically msn v7 and lanchat enterprise) there is a chinese character conversion tool that appears with some keystroke that I've yet to determine. This is a huge nuisance, as it will convert my typed characters to chinese, or screw with the spacing to fit chinese characters.

I've thought that this must be a remnant from the workstation user before me, as he was chinese, and could barely speak english. However, I cannot find any program files that indicate its location (its IME on the alt+tab switch panel), and it is not listed in add/remove programs.

Therefore, I'm left at the conclusion that this is either a messenger plugin I don't know how to remove, or very stubborn malware. Please help. It is much appreciated.

Thank you very much, chaslang! This is exactly the kind of direction that I needed.
