Nameless item in msconfig/startup?

I have a nameless item running in my startup and I have no idea what this is or could be, can anyone help me on this?

Notice the registry key. The values under that key will tell you the name of the executable that its opening. From there, you can investigate further.

 

Is there anything in particular I should look for when investigating? Does this even look suspicious and/or have you heard of this "problem" before?

 

I've seen this plenty. My theory has always been corrupt "blank" entries in relevant the run key, maybe "scraps" left behind after a virus/spyware had been yanked out. I've even seen entries disappear after unchecking them and rebooting.

So, in short, my personel, unscientific opinion- not a big deal, don't worry about it.

 

I would uncheck it and monitor the comp for a while to see how it responds.
Then you can leave it unchecked if ok.

I myself had 1 once. Created no problems.

 

Its an entry from a program probably uninstalled, that has a name, but no value.

So, when looking in that part of the registry, look for anything that doesn't have a value. (value not set) doesn't count.

 

Also, one may want to use a registry cleaner, to clear those items.

Perhaps running ccleaner could help:

Run the Issues section of ccleaner to fix the registry.

Other than that, I'd say, follow the expertise that others have posted.
