need a free image editor

does any one no of a free image editor that can load color palettes?

i was going 2 try it but i havent yet

 

i just got GIMP, its great. I used to be pretty good with Photoshop and i picked right up with this; its nearly the same

 

i tried 2 load a palette and it wouldnt do it. it just converted the picture 2 that color palette. mabei did it wrong.does anyone no how 2 load a palette on gimp?

 

what about a palette that i got off the internet? i couldnt find any where 2 load your own palette.

 

i figured out how 2 import my own palettes but it said it didnt support the file. does anyone no whare 2 get a palette that has the same colors as the windows xp home boot screen?

 

I couldn't find any palettes for you to load.
This is the colour palette used for XP icons etc so it could be all you need to manually create the pallet yourself.

 

i found a palette on my harddrive. it worked. but thanks for the link 2 the gimp. it's a great program!
