Need advice on second hard drive

I intend installing a second hard drive and would like some advice on which one to set up as master and which as slave.
My present hard drive is only a 13GB Seagate C:8GB and D:5GB with 3.6 and 4.62 GB Free space respectively.
Apart from my OS which is XP PRO.SP1 and a few virus and spyware programmes nothing else. Computer used maily for sending and receiving Emails. I now want to become more involved and start with 40 or 80GB upgrade.
My question is which, in your opinion, is the one to use as master.
If it is the new drive do I have to install windows or can I transfer the old C: drive data to the new drive, if so which is the best way to transfer.

120GB??? *shakes fist* ur lucky....
if you have your xp cd, and all the software cds, i would set the new 120gb to master, because its most likely faster than the 12gb... if you dont want to do a reinstall, just plug it in as a slave

My specs: a 40GB(Master), 120GB(SLAVE).
I do not use the 40Gig that much, so i would make the second hard drive your slave.
Saves time and money(if you do not have the XP cd).
