need for speed carbon on vista

recently i started playing nfs carbon on vista but i started making a big mistake (i sold all my cars to buy a porsche) but didn't have enough to tune it so i started a new game but it froze on me (i tried two more times and the last two is when they tell you about beating the other crews and their territorys)
Do i need to run it in compatibility mode (if so what settings)?
to let you know my pc specs are.
cpu: intel core 2 quad q8300 2.5 gig
mobo: intel dp43tf
os vista home premium 32 bit
memory: 3 gigs
hdd: 232 gigs
sound: realtek hd audio (onboard audio):drool
also i do have the nfs carbon 1.40 patch installed

 

I tried nfs carbon in windows xp compatibility mode in vista but i got this error each time i tried it.:cry
but afterwards i tried windows 98 mode and that works fine (for anyone else who's trying to get nfs carbon to work right in vista try that compatibility mode.:-D

 

Thanks for sharing the fix, I havn't actually tried Carbon or Most Wanted since I upgraded to Win7, so thanks for the info.
