    Welcome to Major Geeks!

    Are you still having problems?

If you want us to tell you if you are clean then attach the 4 logs that were requested in the READ & RUN ME.

You are in pretty good shape. We just have some finishing touches to do and I want to get some addition infomation on folder contents using ComboFix.

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RealTray] C:\Program Files\Real\RealPlayer\RealPlay.exe SYSTEMBOOTHIDEPLAYER
    O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - ?p=ZKfox000
    O9 - Extra button: Bodog Poker - {F47C1DB5-ED21-4dc1-853E-D1495792D4C5} - C:\Program Files\Bodog Poker\GameClient.exe (file missing)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now we need to use ComboFix to remove a bunch of malware files.
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

ok i just finished all the finishing touches. seems to be running ok now. i just am paranoid now about getting another virus. right after i finished doing all the scans while waiting on a reply from you, i went to a myspace page and rec'd a prompt about dang xp antivirus2008. i immediately closed that window. now just wanted to make sure everything is ok. what do you reccomend for virus and malware prevention. and i read about the recc. to use a software firewall, which do you prefer on that if you don't mind me asking?

    Your logs are clean.

Our recommendations are in the last step below.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. You can uninstall SUPERAntiSpyware now.
    2. We recommed you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware as a scanner. It uses no resources except a little disk space until you run a scan.
    3. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop & renamed it like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combo-fix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the cf" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
      • Delete the C:\cf folder from combofix.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    8. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

ok- this may be a stupid question, but im not sure the best place to install the new software firewall, does it matter? and if i'm going to install new anti-virus and the anti-spyware tools you rec. is there a better place for me to download them to than other places? about mal-ware bytes. at first in one response it was suggested to keep it, but it wasn't on any of your lists on how to keep yourself safe? i have avg but it is and older version, i was thinking of changing to another, so just didn't know what part malware-bytes plays in anything, or if there is no reason if i'm going to download all of the tools reccomended. thanks for your help!

You should always install software where the installation procedure recommends.

You already have AVG7 antivirus installed. It will be supported until the end of the year, but if you wish to change now then make sure you uninstall it before installing another.

It is only a scanner. It does not provide any active protection unless you purchase it. We already told you to keep it in the final instructions.

--i'm sorry if i sound like an idiot, but i'm not exactly sure about all computer things. i got confused because when i tried to download 1 of the applications in your recommendations my firefox prompted me to choose where to install it. so that was the reason for my concern. because after all these programs you helped me to run to clean my system i just wanted to make sure i didn't do anything to mess it up again, and also do everything you recommend. yes i did see that you already told me to keep the malware-bytes, but i wasn't sure of when to run it. ---thank you so much for your help, hope i'm not being too big of a problem, just trying to do things the right way :)

No it did not! It prompted you where to download/save it to. That is unless you did not download it and attempted to Run or Open the installer program rather than downloading it ( and you are advised to download the file and save the file locally and then install it from your PC.) But then that would not be FireFox asking you where to install it. It would be the installation program. Do not confuse downloading, saving, installing, and running the applications. They are all different things and when you use one of these words they all mean different things to us. Installing is the actually act of installing the program onto your PC. This means you have to have already downloaded and save the installation file to your PC.
