    Hello,

This is probably harmless and possibly a dumb question, but here goes . . . The attached screen messages about backing up the computer keep appearing on a friend's PC. We can't figure out what program they are associated with or if they are a form of malware. Does anyone recognize them?

    Thanks.

Looking at the startup entries in System Configuration might tell you what software is responsible.
    Open Run and type msconfig.

Thank you. In the meantime, his son figured it out, and it turned out to be totally harmless. Very relieved.

For the benefit of all, kindly share with us what software caused the popup.

Well, I warned that it might be a dumb question. Turns out, it was some sort of calendar event reminder of an upcoming backup.
