Need help really bad on making a file smaller!!!

Well i have a captuer device and i captured me playing halo 2 from my TV to

my computer and when i was making the video it was about 5 minutes long

and i was using AVI and then when i was done with it, it said it took up 2.3

GIG!! and i didnt know what to do. I dont want to use MPEG or somthing like

that because it gets really choppy when i play the video but when i use AVI

it is crystal clear.

So could some one please help me or find me a program that i could use to

decrease this size

Alright, first off, try winzip. It's got a fair compression rate. If that's still big, then there are other options, but it's the most common. Though this is really a software question, and will probably be moved shortly to that forum.

 

you're going to need to use an AVI compression codec, such as DivX. I recommend a program called Auto Gordion Knot (autogk) found here http://www.autogk.me.uk/modules.php?name=Downloads

this program should let you input the AVI and compress it into Divx, without sacrificing quality.

 

Want te compress.
Download virtual dub.
Download good codecs.eg.Divx fusion,mpegable avc,on2 vp6,3ivx.
These stuffs are free and you will get very good compression with very low data loss.

 

I agree, DivX will give you very good quality in a smaller file size.
