Hello, I have an apparent browser hijacker that I have not been able to get rid of. I first noticed it about Dec. 26th. When I click on a web page or click on a search bar about 35% to 50% of the time I end up at an unwanted website. I also, less often, get chat requests randomly. I now have malwarebytes installed and it blocks the websites but not the chat. Right before this happened I tried to download a manual for an old meat slicer that we have and I am assuming that might have been the cause of the problem, as the manual never actually downloaded. I have run the requested programs. Prior to finding this website I tried several different solutions with no lasting result. I am attaching the requested logs. Thanks!

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Your log from MGtools is very incomplete. Did you allow it to finish running before grabbing the log? Did you disable UAC and also use Run As Administrator? We need a complete log so please try again and let me know if you are having problems running MGtools.

Is your problem occurring when you use Chrome?

Does the below still show up if you run Rogue Killer again?

    Thank you for your help!

Sorry about the MGTools file, not sure what happened. My UAC slider is all the way down. I ran as administrator and I attached the new log. It looks quite a bit bigger so hopefully it is correct this time.

The problem is the worst on chrome. I tried Firefox and had the same thing happen so I removed it. I am now using IE and it does not seem to be happening.

Yes, when I ran Rogue Killer again that still showed up in the report.

    You're welcome.
Okay then run RogueKiller again and have it delete that item. Then reboot your PC. After reboot, check to see if you are still having a problem with Chrome.

    You're welcome.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    3. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    4. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    5. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    6. If you are running Win 8, Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below to flush restore points:
      • Refer to the instructions for your Windows version in this link: Disable And Enable System Restore
      • For Windows 8 and 8.1 system restore see this link: Win 8 System Restore - How to enable/disable
      • What we want you to do is to first disable System Restore to flush restore points some of which could be infected.
      • Then we want you to Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
