Need help to decide on os

Hi All,
I need help to decide which is the best linux for a new comer,
I have a list of possibles, and have dabbled with them all.
Tend to favor ubuntu, but not sure it's for me..?
Ok here's my list.....

1 ubuntu
2 puppy
3 slax
4 dsl
5 zenwalk 4.0
6 vector 5.8
7 sabayon 3.2
8 gobo 013

If you had to choose as a new comer which would you go for, i want to get the one thats easy to get on with as a new comer, i'm a quick learner and don't give in easy to a problem.
I had connection issues with ubuntu and my broadband but i have resolved that now with a new modem /router, Thank you for the help .....

Thank you for that would i be able to update my sabayon 3.2 to the 3.3 in march or should i wait untill then..?
