    Hi,

I need to capture a screen shot from a paused video (Windows Media Player). Unfortunately both Gadwin Print Screen and FastStone 4.2 will NOT display the content inside the "view box," only the "view box" itself. (the screen within the screen is BLACK)

    Any suggestions?

AH, this worked! I have never used Paint before... THANK YOU!

One thing I noticed is that Paint does the same thing -- BLACK -- if saved as a .JPG file. But saved as a .BMP file, everything is okay. That may be why the BLACK screen shots were coming across in the other programs too (I was saving as .JPG files). Hmmmm...

    Thanks again for your help!!

Screen Caps from Video/DVD are BLACK

    Hi,

I have some images saved that are actually screen captures from a paused DVD/video, made using Gadwin Print Screen, FastStone 4.2, and Windows Paint (on a Windows Media Player, Windows/XP Home), and they are saved as both BMP and JPG files. Unfortunately ALL of them display the player, but the inside "screen" (what was playing) is just BLACK. They looked fine when I first saved them, but something has happened in the meantime; now there is nothing there, just the player controls and timer and then SOLID BLACK on the inside of the player "screen."

    Can anyone help me here?

    Thanks.

Those were very helpful instructions. Unfortunately, the "Use overlays" was already unchecked; in fact, it was greyed out. (both for DVD and Video Acceleration at the top).

    What now?
