    Is THIS it?

It's about halfway down, but doesn't list firmware.

Have you tried emailing them and why do you want to flash it?

Also, not sure if THIS is the exact model?

the first one took me to the same place i was at, yes you can download drivers at that page. my problem is by my cable modem under the drivers category, it says N/A. the second one got me the file but dont you usually need some kind of utility to actualy use the file? if so where can i get that. i wanted to flash it because it has ben acting up so a firmware update might help it.

J J - Your SB3100 cable modem has newer DOCSIS 1.0 firmware installed, so the only way you can do it (not your service provider) is by using the secret console port inside the modem.

You need to use a RS232 to TTL converter and solder 4 wires inside your modem, watch this xvid video for an example of how to do it:

Best thing to do is contact your Cable provider. As I understand it, they can "push" firmware updates to you.

Through my battles with Charter, they've basically told me that you receive modem updates periodically when you have the modem hooked into the wall (everything idle, computer off)...but for some reason the process is fairly slow (i.e. 30 minutes or so).

Is this true? ..it's plausible, but it came from a Charter techie... so who really knows ;) If you go to your cablemodem menu (192.168.100.1) you can reset to the default, which gets rid of everything your modem has "learned" through prior initializations. So it kinda makes sense about the "updates."

It is true you will receive firmware updates from your service provider periodically (usually 3-6 months), but the process takes less than 2 minutes.

Also, the feature you speak of "Reset to defaults", what that actual does is erase all of the information stored in the NON-VOLATILE config file. This file contains information such as the last known valid downstream frequency (so the next time you reboot your modem, it begins at this value and makes the boot up time much quicker). Another value stored in that config file is your channel plan; a service provider has the abilty to change your modem's freqeuncy scan plan (from say, DOCSIS to EuroDOCSIS).
