Nero 8 Problems

I purchased Nero 8 upgrade online. First the demo had to be downloaded then after purchase the entire program. I also ordered the backup CD in case I had a problem with the program later on. Last week, I tried to open Nero Smart Start but was unable to I started a round of emails to try and correct the problem. Here is how it went:

I purchased Nero 8, downloaded online and also the CD for further help if I had a problem with the original download. Well, I am receiving an error message that the Shell Manager DataBase is corrupt or missing. I removed Nero 8 and reinstalled it with the CD and I am still receiving the error message. Also, "the original program is missing." Now I cannot use Nero Start Smart. Please advise how I correct these problems.

At this point I was told to download the CleanTool file and follow the directions. This is what occurred.

Cannot open the tool file. I keep getting the error message need to associate with a file. I tried Nero but it would not open. The error message was then," unexpected file format." Can I use my Nero 8 Backup disc?

Why isn't the backup CD solving my problem? No response to this question about the backup disc.

I received this message also, Warning:Can't create product dbmanager object! (Line:123, file.\External Application manger.cpp) Please try debug application. Then I received this when I retried:

Nero Encountered a problem and needs to close.

It did download but would not open I sent you the messages I received when I tried to open it. It says, "unexpected file format. and will not open.

Still receiving the error message, "unfamiliar format"
We do not have any discs in this office. Also, with a disc, you will are still required to run the cleaning tool.

My question is: How can I resolve this problem being Nero is not able to correct it. I thank you in advance.

Could we have a screenshot of the error message, please? Or did you quote the message in it's full length? It could be something about writing the product key again to verify your license?

I then came upon a screen Language Not Allowed enter serial # or upgrade now. I tried to enter serial # put the window disappeared.

You could also write them. You are a subscriber and therefore entitled to support. It's a part of being a paying costumer. Nero's staff have an obligation to be experts in this program. :-D

 

I know, I have been corresponding with them since Monday. Yesterday, I was told to send an email to the technical support which I did received no response yet. I do thank you for your input.

Hate to jump into a thread where the OP is already receiving help, but you might like to try running the Nero clean tool for your previously installed version also. Then run CCleaner with the issues tab which will search the registry for all entries concerning Nero, and then delete/fix them. I have ran into this problem with previous versions of Nero. Hope this helps.

I have a clean tool, I think it is the one I downloaded this past week that would not open. It is asking me for an application to associate it with. The only Nero I am offered as a choice of association is: Backup, Cover Design, Photo Swap or Show Time. Any suggestions??????

 

Which clean tool do you have downloaded? Seems that I had the same problem that you mentioned and had to browse my hard drive for the Nero folder and point it to that before it would work. Hope this helps.

 

I do have a nero 8 cleaning tool however, I cannot open it. That is the one I am having all the problem with. It is asking for an association but only offers the 4 I mentioned.

 

I have several questions after going over the entire post and the links that you provided. The two links that you provided in your original post do not have any information in them, only that the files have been removed by the originator. Is this where you downloaded your Nero Version 8 from? Also just visited Nero's site and there are cleaners for previous versions listed as well as the one for Nero 8. :confused

 

I downloaded (originally the demo) from the Nero offer. I had Nero 6 and then the upgrade to that version. After downloading Nero8 demo, I ordered the complete package plus the CD for the future. which I did but still could not open it. The tool is on my computer but when I go to open it I receive all the error messages that I previously sent.

 

I have no idea of what cleaning tool that you have on your computer, and I don't understand why a Nero tech would recommend downloading the file from some place other than Nero itself, as they are available for download on the site.

The link that you gave in your last reply still led me to a blank page with no information.

My own advice would be to download the cleaning tools from Nero's website and try running them. Then we will go from there.

Haha! :-D No one would ever get any help at all by that standard! :-D It takes a lot of suggestions to find the right solutions. This is true for all boards like this one. You shouldn't hesitate to offer an idea or a suggestion...

 

Dear Friends, I tried all the suggestions and when I went to the Nero address for the clean tool, it removed Nero 8. Now my problem is, I cannot get the computer to read the contents of the Backup disc, so how can I reinstall the nero 8 program?

This is another problem that sprung up with my opening Window xp home edition: I have window xp home edition. Right now, I cannot reinstall my nero 8 backup disc. Seems like everything went haywire on my computer. Now when I start my computer I receive a message that states "Program version is wrong. Please reinstall again." I don't know what program it is referring to, My computer will not recognize the backup disc of Nero 0 that I have. So I don't know what the problem is: Can you advise me, please.

Glad to hear that the clean tool from Nero's site removed version 8. As to your new problems, you will have to be more specific. Does your computer boot and load XP ok, and do you get to a normal Windows desktop?

Does the "incorrect version, try loading again" error occur when you click on a Nero desktop icon or when you try to load Nero from your CD?

Does your CD/DVD drive not read or try to run your Nero CD at all?

Did you receive the CD in the mail or download it?

I only receive a message stating, "Program Vershion is wrong please install again." It comes up on startup. That is the first thing on my desktop when windows loads. I say, OK and it disappears.

When I put my CD in, nothing is recognized. I tried to run the disc also but I receive a message to put in a disc.

The Cd drive is working with other discs but not the backup disc.

I sent two emails out to Nero but no response.

I purchased the CD when I downloaded the program. It was sent thru the mail.

 

Sorry to be late in replying, but work hours have changed.

Please boot into Safe Mode and run your cleaning tool again. It would seem that you have some Nero program running at startup that wasn't deleted. Safemode only loads with a minimal amount of drivers to support Windows, and hopefully the file can be deleted this way.

Did you download the clean tool for your previous version of Nero?
