Nero (or any) burning software

Everytime I try to burn a data disc with my laptops' drivers on it, it fails. Nero says "failed" (i'll post the log) and Sonic was just saying it was burning for about... an hour and just never made any progress and the computer froze when I tried to end the process on mediahub.exe (sonic related).

The following is the Log from nero. There are 2 logs because I used NeroExpressPortable and NeroPortable. Please shine some light on this situation so I can get my laptop working!!! :)

Also, when I check the CD-RW drive in device manager, it says it is working properly. I originally suspected a software issue but I'm more leaning towards hardware since 2 seperate burning programs failed out on the burn. I do know the ROM works properly though. It plays DVD's, recognizes whats on CD's and allows me to copy files from CD, etc....

I know you guys will have the answer, so thank you in advance! :)

P.S.- I decided to pop the CD-R into my laptop just to see if anything was on it and all the drivers I was trying to burn are showing up on the disc but when I try to copy 1 or more of them it fails to copy (CRC Error).

I tried creating an image of the files and burning them with Alcohol 120%. It made the image just fine and yet again failed during the burn process. Here is the log from the failure.

OK! I've tried every frickin burning program I can find. Nothing. So it must be hardware related for some reason. NOW. Can I transfer these darn drivers to the laptop by other means? I don't have a router/hub. I don't have a flash drive and I can't burn them onto a CD. All I have is a Desktop, a Laptop and a 50' Cat6. Is there a way to mcgyver it with just the cat6 cable? (Or will the laptop not having NIC drivers yet inhibit THAT from happening also?)

When I tried letting windows do the burning, I popped in a blank CD-R and it said "E:\ Is not accessible" & "Incorrect Function"

Sorry to keep posting replies to my own post and I'm slowly starting to think this post should have gone under hardware but I'm trying to trouble shoot this myself and work it out while providing you with detailed steps, errors, etc. to help you help me.

I have a computer that refuses to burn. (It has two burners installed). I tried so many programs, and nothing worked on either burner. I too thought it was hardware except for the fact that I can burn with no problem when I boot into linux running on the computer. So that told me it was something to do with windows.

This didn't work for me but it might help you, if it is a software problem.

How much RAM do you have in the computer? I ask because I'm seeing not enough memory and adjust virtual memory/swap file messages.

I'd run the Nero Info tool and check the firmware version and look for a newer one. My friends Acer laptop had a LiteOn the wouldn't burn3either, then we flashed it with a new firmware nad it worked fine.

I use Sothink free movie maker to burn my videos. When i encounter the problem, I just need to send the log file (Click "Tools-> Enable Logging") to Sothink support, and then they will help me.

    I download it from CNET.

Thanks for everyones input. I think it is in fact hardware related. I did a complete fresh install of windows xp (everything went flawlessly... for the most part). and not just b/c of the burning. I tried to let windows go ahead and burn the data for me. All it did was render yet another cd-rw useless. When I tried to update the firmware it errors out. So I guess its hardware related.

Are you always using 48x speed ? Try lower speed...
Also what media/disc brand are you using ?

    What firmware did you get?

Ok, I'm going to try to answer all of your questions in one post.

I have a LITE-ON generic cd burner and I did try to burn at lower speeds than 48x (even though the software determined that to be the max burn speed). I dropped as low as 20x.

As far as software, I tried every piece of software I could find except the two you guys just posted (I'm trying them now, I'll post results).

The brand of disc's I tried are 3 types: Sony, "Computer Essentials", and Memorex.

i started with the generic discs and I think I may have had the same thought as you (thinking it was the disc) so I went to memorex and then tried sony.

Keep in mind I am trying to burn data discs, not music.
