New Chipset

I'm currently running an AGP NVidia 7800 on a 2.16 Ghz AMD Processor. Going into buying the graphics card, I know that it would be a heavy load on my processor, but I did it anyway. I now can't stand the crashes and the slow responses on many occasions and am either looking to buy a new chipset or just sell my old computer (although I'd probably not get much out of it) and buy a new one.

Basically I'm looking for a good chipset that supports possibly AGP and PCI Express and that also has a kick butt processor. (I'm a gamer, and movie/photo editor) So I'm wondering if someone could direct me to something like this if there is such a thing.

    Thanks.

Crashes may be caused by software. Have you reinstalled xp since you got the 7800?

I don't know your budget. If you're keeping the 7800 agp & memory, you can get a hybrid mobo that does agp, pci-e, ddr & ddr2 memory. You just add a new cpu.

This combo will work with your agp video & memory. It's definitely a big step-up from the socket a cpu. If you can afford it, get the e6400/6600 & 2x1gig ddr2-667mhz memory.

What's your psu brand & model?
