new lg dvd worked yesterday

i bought a dvd from havery norman, it installed well and worked yesterday, after using registry fix, it wont reconise it as a dvd, the drive opens and closes, light works but noting eles, a music cd works.
searching through here it says there is no need to upgrade drivers in windows xp pro, which brings me to another thing, it thinks its NT os,
i have tried lots of diff things but still the same.
found 3 trojens, in the temp directory but that wouldnt do that would it?

Why did you use "registry fix" if everything was working ok?

 

pc was running very slow, only had 256mb mem, so i ran the fix last nite hoping it would speed up pc, and then bought new ram today also a 64 geforce but thats not installedd yet
