Following an earlier post re faulty MoBo / CPU, I have decided to replace them both and take the opportunity to upgrade in the process.

If I'm placing the new Mobo / CPU back in the same box with the previous drives etc, do I need to reinstall XP on the HDD so it can integrate fully with the new MoBo and CPU? I read this somewhere once but I've never seen it mentioned elsewhere.

    I'm going from a P4 CPU & chipset to a Pentium D / LGA 755 board.

    Thanks!

Sometimes you get lucky and not have to, but more than likely you will have to, plus you will get a disc with all the chipset ,video, drivers for the new mother board, no conflicts if you start new. ed
