New printer software causes start up to fail hho

Hi all

Seems every time I visit my mother I end up on here . Bought her a cheap printer ( canon pixma ) put the instal disc in got to wizard and the pc shut down Restarted , apologises for not starting successfully and them goes to power saving then off again then repeat s She is running xp . I have tried to start in safe mode but it won't play will someone help a dutiful son help his dear old mum ?

we will need more info on this canon pixma like what model number.

what version of xp you are using.32-bit or 64-bit.

 

Driver hassles...oh brother...rolleyes

Alot of times CD's are out dated bye like a year.
