Huawei E1550 (internet Device: ISP Etisalat, Egypt) is not showing-up on Ubuntu 12.04.

    Any Idea?

via (lsusb) it is recognized as: Huawie Technologies Co. , Ltd E169/E620/E800 HSDAP Modem However, in Media folder it does not show.

    Can Mode-switching be applied successfully.

It appears your device is both a modem AND a usb storage device(?). The lsusb recognition would suggest the usb storage functionality is available, but if that is the case, it should show up in /media or /mnt. Perhaps it is mounting in /tmp folder? My son's iPod was plugged into a friends machine (windows!) and the device was somehow re-initialized; Ubuntu failed to mount it in the previoiusly proper location, but I found it mounting in the /tmp directory with a random alpha-numeric identifier. We reset the device, plugged back in, Ubuntu found it, mounted it, and all was well again.

Found this on Arch forums, but most of it is beyond my understanding:

This appears to be more specific to Ubuntu:

crossover and system update fixed it.
