New Video card and small power supply

So, im looking to get a new videocard for my brothers computer, i dont want to buy a new power supply, its a 350watt, it has a Core 2 Duo E6400, currently an X1300 (dell), 1 sata drive and two optical drives. What is a relativily cheap video card but one that has power becaue my X800 XT has better performance than that X1300. ATi or nVidia doesnt matter it just needs to be efficent enough that it can run off 350 watts

 

I'm assuming you have a PCIe video slot..... any card that doesn't require it's own power source (meaning it doesn't have to be plugged into the power supply) should be OK. This would include most (if not all) of the nVidia 8600GT line. Some of these cards are factory overclocked and can be purchased with up to 1gb of memory on board and they can really be an excellent card for the money.

I dunno i had problems with my GT8600 because of my power pack which was 350w at the time it would work but it make my monitor start to flicker sometimes just turn off

But there is a huge difference between 350W PSU's.You can't match some Chinese (DINGDONGDUNG)PSU With ex.Cooler Master.

 

what about nvidia 7xxx series cards? and this is some dell psu so i dont know how good it is.

 

It would depend on the exact card. If it's a 7600 or lower, it should be OK with a stock power supply, but if you're using a 7800 or 7900 (or 7950) then I'd strongly recommend replacing the power supply with a stonger unit.
