Hi i'm looking to upgrade from 56k to "ADSL"

    I currently have a 800mhz Win 98SE , 128 ram at 133 mhz.

#1: Do i need any upgrade in my processor or RAM to handle the extra bandwidth?

#2: I've read that i need an "ETHERNET 10-base-T" card. Will i need to upgrade my chipset driver , OS, BIOS or anything else complicated like that for it to work?

#3. I bought my pc in 2001. It's getting slow, even after useing Crap-Cleaner. Too many apps open at once and it'll freeze. Can't figure out why. Will ADSL put more of a strain or should the modem handle all that?

4#. Is ADSL at "3.0 Mbps" as good as cable? 'Cause i also want it for online gaming, is that fast enough?

    thanks for any one's help.

    1. No, you don't. Although extra RAM would be beneficial.

    2. If you don't have Ethernet, then you will need a PCI card. Your modem may also be able to work with USB, although Ethernet is better.

    3. No, ADSL won't put more of a strain.

    4. Yes, 3 Mbps is excellent. Cable has the disadvantage that the more users using it at the same time, the less bandwith availalbe. ADSL doesn't suffer from that, as you are the only user on that line at any time.
