Go into your bios most off the time you hit delete before windows load....
check for integreted chipset you will something ac97 audio if you want it

Change to enabled or you could check in back off your computer you will

check at the back of the computer...do you have audio output?

no? then you don't have onboard audio, unless you have an external bracket

yep i do have an audio output but supp. after i dwnload and install the driver it *should* enable the sound on the system board according to what i've researched.

i'm doing that now so i will see if that works..

make sure it is enabled in BIOS

then windows should have detected the peripherals, check in the device manager for any yellow exclamation point of red cross, if any...download new driver,

make sure speakers are plug in the righ outlet, and also make sure sound isn't muted...as it happens often...

Is the file an .exe? If so you should be able to just run it. Sometimes it will even uninstall previous drivers before installing the newer ones.

At the risk of duplicating suggestions already made, here are some things to check:
    • is the on-board sound enabled in your BIOS settings?
    • are there any error messages showing under "sound controllers" in Device Manager?
    • are the (front) speakers plugged into the lime-green output jack on your mobo? If yes, try it with nothing plugged into the other two jacks.
    • Is the software volume control in Windows turned up to an appropriate level? Make sure that the speakers have not been muted in the control applet.
    • Are the speakers powered up and functioning? Is the volume set to an appropriate level on the speakers?

I hope that one of those jars something loose for you.

 well i checked back in BIOS and it's enabled..i don't get it..

    unless the jack isn't working..or maybe its my speakers..i haven't a clue anymore. :(
