No Audio Output Device is Intalled

Hello,
I recently got a "new" (read: belonged to someone else that was wiped and reset) computer at work. It is a Dell Vostro Desktop 220, running 32-bit Windows 7. It works wonderfully except there is no sound (which I will need as I start to record voice-overs for product videos). When the computer reboots there is the little 'beep' when it turns on, so I don't think the problem is the sound card itself.
There is a red 'x' over the audio icon and the hovertext reads, "No Audio Output device is installed."
After reading on this forum I have checked my Administrator services and everything is set to automatic.
I have tried reinstalling the driver from Dell's website in normal and in safe mode. When I do so the driver install wizard seems to work ("updating your hardware, etc") but when I restart my machine the problem persists.
When I open the 'sound' window in the control panel, it says that no audio devices are installed (I have checked "show disabled/disconnected devices")
I would very much appreciate help with this problem!

Can you please give me the service tag# for your machine, it should be located(usually)on a sticker on the righthand panel of the tower casing.

Download the free, Speccy http://api.viglink.com/api/click?fo...s&txt=http://majorgeeks.com/Speccy_d6358.html then run Speccy and click File > Save as Text File, then attach the log as per instructions below (note: as Speccy also now lists more data it likely will have your Windows licence serial key also in the log, so look for Operating System and under that Serial Number and delete the code and Save the log)
