XP Pro SP3. Looks like I picked up a virus a couple of months ago, but the machine still ran ok. It ran a chkdsk at Startup and I let it go thru. After running chkdsk, no INternet and the CD Drive is not recogonized (tho it still opens and closes). I ran thru a whole bunch of stuff I found online, ComboFix (said rootkit virus, ran thru but still no internet), winsock fix, dialafix. Even went thru the steps outlined on here FSS, Unhide, MGTools (didnt run) , MiniToolbox, Tweaking etc I have attached logs,

    HELP !!!

Attached are logs for Hitman and Rogue.

TDS and Malwarebytes came up no threats detected on both.

I realized after actually READING the Read Me First, that I had not followed the correct protocol. Sorry. I have now followed everything to the Letter. Still no Internet Connection. Attached are required logs. Thanks.

Thanks anyway for the help. I couldnt wait any longer so picked up a new unit.
The old unit I am taking out to the mountains. Always wanted to see the effect that 8 rounds of 00 buck at 10 yards had on a CPU. rolleyes

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Sorry we could not get to you sooner. It's been very busy here and I personally have been away for about 10 days which made it even more difficult for the few other volunteers to keep up with all threads.

Your problem may or may not be due to malware. I do see some in your logs but I'm not sure it will explain your internet access problems. Your logs showed an issue that no network card is even being detected which could be for many different reasons like failed hardware, bad/broken/corrupted/missing drivers, or various other Windows related problems. Some Windows service also seemed to not be running. Thus problems could be from these other non-malware issues.

If you would still like to attempt to fix this we could try a few things. Just let me know.
