Help, I cannot load Norton antivirus 2005 in safe mode (windows XP - service pack 1).

It generates an error and says the symantec integrator has generated an error??

Any ideas how I get this service started manually?

Norton will not install in Safe Mode.

But the symantec virus removal guides say you should run a scan in safe mode if some trojans cannot be removed in normal mode.

All their guides tell you to run Norton in Safe Mode, unfortunately Norton won't run in Safe Mode. Never has and Symantec has not fix this problem or changed their documentation to indicated that Norton won't run in Safe Mode.

Just found this on Symantec support:

With Norton 2005 you should be able to scan for viruses in safe mode. Click START/RUN - type navw32 /L - then click OK. Note: not sure if there is a space before the forward slash.

I have backdoor.sdbot and cannot get rid of it.
