No sound with WinDVD platinum 5.....

I just install winDVD platinum latest version but i have no sound with it !!!

i try that player interactual that come with windvd and the sound work!!!

i would like to know what to do to fix the problem...

I have win 98SE.

open windve when the movie plays right click on the screen and select options then select audio check the settings there

first option select analog card
second option select 2 channel or what ever you have

now for the important part

advanced audio setup

check the sellect 0.1 setup
enable 96 KHZ decoding

and the most important
the one I suspect why is not working

make sure that is not on auto
choose direct sound

Let us know if that works

endiablado i just did what you say and it is not working !!!

My sound card is a Soundblaster 128 PCI. 2 channel...

So i am waiting for anothers suggestion.....

well, i did a search and I couldn't find any reason why it wouldn't be working. what version of directx do you have? you have to have at least 8.1 installed.

The soundcard you have is similar to the one I got.

I was having a problem with sound at one time and this solved it
maybe it can help you.

go to control panel
then system
then go to the hardware manager
click on the sound card
should be somewhere at the bottom of the list
then click on its properties and look around to see if it gives you an option of what kind of speakers you have

the options are digital, mono, and autosense. take it out of autosense if you have it there and put it on whatever type of speaker you have.

When I get home tonight I will post a picture of what I am talking about
if this does not help then it's back to the drawing board

I have the latest direct X 9.0b

My self i did search for this answer with google "windvd 5 no sound"
i get around 30K hit since i am on a 56k that will take a long time to
check them all.....

And for the soundblaster i did not have this option( I have Win98SE)

I have stereo speaker(BW-180H)

What i don't unterstand why interactual player work and not windvd5
they come together ???

Do you have the mandatory installed I see you have direct x 9 what about the others

 

yes , All install.....

Yes i have install all the Mandatory program.

I have install in that others windvd5 then windows media 7.1 bacause i have
windows media 6.4 !!!

The others two not install Windows Installer 2,Microsoft XML 3.

 

I guess you use WinDVD to play DVD-movies.
To play DVD-movies two codecs are required MPEG2 and AC3.
These codecs are installed automaticly by WinDVD

If you like to play other movies like DivX or Xvid, and have installed one of those wonderful codec packages, then you most likely already have an AC3 codec installed.
If this is the case, then the cause of your no-sound problem could be a conflict between "WinDVD AC3" and "Codec Pack AC3".

 

The program should be working. I have found several sites that contain informaton about this problem. some people said to hell with it and went to power dvd but this will only sidestep the problem and not solve it.

another option is to check for codecs in your system

I had a similar problem - the only player that worked was interactual.
Finally I installed the latest aspi drivers (ver. 4.7.1) and now can use any DVD player.
(Win98se, WMP 6.4, DirectX9.0)

 

Still no sound ...

Aurelius just try that i have 1.0 to 4.7.1 and still no luck...

I am about to give up and say the HELL with it......

 

Not sure if your going to check this again but i was having the same problem but on xp.
After installing and uninstalling a few times i still had no sound. So i went on the intervideo homepage and saw that they had included Div x support. Thought it may have a conflict problem so uninstalled both and re-installed windvd 5 platinum again. The sound started up straight away. May be worth a try, if you have Div x installed that is.

 

Yess im having some Trouble with my Audio on WinDVD 5 Platinum. First i downloaded the Trial version and it worked fine full sound and audio so i decided it was a decent program so i Activated it, but after i activated it the audio quit working but the vidieo still worked, i think when you activate it it installes DVD-Audio Pack but in not totaly sure. if any one could help me that would be great i get no help from the Tec Support.

I have recently upgrade to window XP Pro and when i install windvd
i had no problem the sound was OK

And God311 there tech support S**K at intervideo.

I have sent them 8 or 10 email never got an answer.

Have try what endiablado said for the sound post 2 and 6 ???

it work with a friends who had XP.

 

K iv tryed Reconfiging the program to all the specs but still when i activate it i loose sound in the program, It works fine up untill i Activate it but after that all i get is vidio.
