no spyware, yet still get random pop up search engines

  1. so, i recently installed a new hard drive after my old one crashed (this new hard drive was sent under warranty so same thing)

and ive been reinstalling the software and whatnot, the first two things being adaware and mcafee virus scan

now, ive noticed that every once in a while (more than that, at least once a day) i get a website just randomly popping up

its usually sites such as http://alltheweb.com, http://teoma.com, http://wisenut.com

i have used adaware multiple times and it comes up with nothing, ive already made sure all the spyware dat info is updated and the engine updated, ive also used a program called bazooka and cannot find anything

i tried scanning with mcafee, no virii at all

what is causing these pop ups?

i have used hijackthis, used the tutorial on this website and still found nothing malicious or even spyware like

please, this is pissing me off, just looking to see if anybody could provide some sort of hint as to just what is actually going on here

    thx

If you have run thru all of the READ ME FIRST sticky steps and still have a problem, follow the guidelines below and post your HJT log.

Make sure you have HijackThis 1.99 and follow the guidelines on where to install it and how to post a log as an attachment. This is all covered in the sticky thread NO HIJACK THIS LOG FILES BEFORE READING THIS: HJT Tutorial & LOG File Posting

Now post a HijackThis log as an attachment to your message (Do not post the log inline). All running programs should be closed, including your web browser, e-mail. Close before running Hijack This!

To repeat: Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file. Place it in its own folder, for example C:\Program Files\HJT
