    Hi, I have been loaned a computer following my owns pc motherboard failure, but can not get any sound out of it. its a Stone computer, with windows XP home (service pack 2) and Intel cerleron 2.40MHz.

    When I go into accesories/volume control, up comes a message as follows;

    There are no active devices available. To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click printer and other Hardare, then click Add Hardware.

    On trying Control Panel, then Sounds and Audio Devices, there is a message;
    No Audio Devices.

    On clicking Hardware, the following items come up;

    Samsung CD ROM SC152G location 0
    Audio Codecs location unknown
    Legacy Audio Drives location unknown
    Media Control Devices location unknown
    Legacy Video capture Devices location unknown
    Video Codecs location unknown

    Is there anything I can do to get the volume/sound working please?

    Many thanks,

    John.

    Hi there,

    Is the sound onboard or a separate PCI card?

    If it's onboard, could you find out the motherboard model or if it's PCI then find out the card model.
