noisy computer due to fans

Right now, my computer has 6 fans in total (2 case, 1 psu, 1 gfx, 1 chipset, 1 cpu)

It is actually quite noisy with all of these fans.

This may sound stupid, but would adding a couple more fans actually make my computer quieter, hopefully slowing down the speed of the rest of the fans?

As long as you're buying fans, I might replace the noisy ones with some that have recieved great user reviews for their lack of noise. But hey, I'm just a private. :)

If the fan speeds are being controlled by the mobo, and running high due to heat, maybe.

But more than likely, it's the case fans you're hearing, since the other fans are located entirely inside the case, and usually, stock P.S. fans are relatively quiet.

So it's the case fans you have to focus on, to reduce the noise. Good planning of air flow can usually get you by with less noise.
Unfortunately, without seeing your case, it's hard to make suggestions. Cooling has to be thought thru on a case by case basis.<pardon the pun !

If your case has air intake slots/grills in the front, you may be better off just installing one case fan blowing OUT of the case in the rear. That would give you the P.S. fan blowing out, and the additional fan blowing out, both in the rear. All the fresh air INTAKE would be taking place in the front, passively, and creating a full flow from the front to the back of inside the case, then exausted out the rear. I try to stay away from front case fans. Obviously, if the're in the front, you're gonna hear them more.

The only time I use an INTAKE fan, is if I have it ducted directly to the processor. And that would only be if the case had no front vents.

Everyone has their own ideas for fanage, but I like to keep it so the air goes in the front, and out the back, while avoiding a front fan if at all possible.
Not only cuz of the noise factor, but also after seeing the placement of most peoples towers, I see that the area behind the tower is often neglected for cleaning, and the area in front of the tower is likely to be tidyier. A lot of dust tends to get sucked in, if there's an intake fan in the back.

    That's my 2 cents worth !

I know the feeling Tonglebeak!! I had alot of fans in my case to along with a 'Volcano 12' HSF, which is quite loud. Now,I don't know if you'd be willing to go this route, but have you ever thought about getting another case? I got so tired of the fan noise I got an Antec P180 case and I couldn't believe the difference it made. It comes with 3 120mm, 3-speed fans with room to add another 120 in the front plus a VGA cooler which uses a slim 80mm fan (not included). Personally, I didn't have to use the 80 VGA cooler. So that is another option open to you if your tired of the noise. Granted, it's NOT the cheapest option but, for me, it was well worth the money.

It's definitely not the case fans, those are pretty quiet, as well as my psu fans.

The only fans that could be making the noise are the cpu and video card fans.

The chipset fan makes almost no noise.

My 2 case are on the left side, on the bottom. They blow out. The PSU fan also blows out.

I read reviews about my video card's fan being noisy, and that might be what's causing all this noise (the vid card idles at 52C, which only makes the fan spin faster and worse -_-)

Maybe I just need to replace the video card fan, but I'm not so sure how to do that...
