Nortel/Tasman 4100 jumper reset, redundancy problem

I have a Tasman 4100 that seems to load a config file putting it in redundant primary or backup mode. I need to stop this but simply deleting the system.cfg file does not do it. Reformating the flash also does not solve it.

It has been suggested that a jumper reset may work.

So, does anyone know this procedure? Or, another solution to stop it going into any redundant mode?

My goal is to upgrade the software but cannot even ping the unit when it's in any redundant mode. Yes, I configure the ethernet port, set the ip address correctly but no pinging - in or out. On a related note, I can edit the boot parameters and it will boot off TFTP. However, I cannot then transfer any more files as it kicks into a redundant mode.
