Norton Nprotect folder question

I use Symantec Antivirus. The "Read and Run Me First" Malware removal instructions mention to empty the Norton Nprotect Folder guarding the recycle bin. I also looked at the instructions to do this on the Symantec website, but I don't see this on my machine. Is it the Symantec Antivirus doesn't have this by Norton does? Or is there something similar for Symantec? Also, I'm a bit confused about the product names. Are Norton Antivirus and Symantec Antivirus two different products from the same company?
