    Hey guys,
Uhh...Quick Question. I had a portable version of MS Word on my computer I don't have it any more due to a HD crash.( I do not have access to an actual disk--So I can't install it.) I have .doc files still on my computer of info I need. When I go to open one in Notepad it's encrypted. :cry Is there a way to keep them as a .doc file and open them "normally" in Open office or Libre Office?
    Any Suggestions would be great.
    Thanks,
    Spock96

Notepad will not open .doc files, regardless of whether they are encrypted. If your OS is Windows 7, you can open .doc files with WordPad, although some content might be mssing or displayed improperly. Otherwise, OpenOffice would do the trick; it will open .doc files and can save in that format. I have not used Libre Office but I'd bet the same is true for it.
