    Anytime I have a problem I come to you guys first so I already did the read me first, tried everything and most would not work. These trojans/worms have locked down almost my entire desktop. I used to go online, now can't even do that. Its a desktop with Windows XP home.

    I've tried downloading things on my laptop and using a USB drive to transfer but the only thing that will work is Kaspersky removal tool. BUT it won't remove everything.
    I think it got rid of trojan.win32.netsky as not popping up lately.

    The one that popped up last is trojan.win32.tdss.avce

    What can i download via USB that I haven't already tried?
    I was unable to get any of the scanners on the desktop,(all blocked or froze) can I download them to my (vista) laptop first? Then how would I get any reports back to you if I can't use that computer online?

    Thanks for any help.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

    You will need to transfer the tools via cd or thumb drive. You should first transfer this:
    AutoEater.

    Then try doing this:
    * Please download TDSSKiller to your Desktop
    * Extract its contents to your Desktop so that you have TDSSKiller.exe directly on your Desktop and not in any subfolder of the Desktop.
    * Click Start > Run and copy/paste the following bold command into Run box and hit Enter.

    "%userprofile%\Desktop\TDSSKiller.exe" -v

    * Follow the instructions to type in "delete" when it asks you what to do when if finds something.
    * When done, a log file should be created on your C: drive named something like TDSSKiller.2.1.1_27.12.2009_14.17.04_log.txt which is based on the program version # and date and time run. Please attach this log to your next reply.

    NOW:
    Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

    Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

    READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

    and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
    Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

    Thank you for your help so far. Here's what up.
    AutoEater - done
    TDSSKiller - done - report will be attached
    only AVG and Windows firewall being used
    anything suspicious program uninstalled
    All sun java removed
    CCleaner done (numerous times, I already had it)
    hidden files - done no problems

    misconfig "windows cannot find misconfig"
    no spybot program
    via usb thumb drive I was able to download all 5 programs and get them to run. yeah!
    Superantispyware installed, ran 3x actually as it kept finding things. I will attach 3rd report.
    Still no internet connection, I did the suggested repair and still nothing.
    I have a program called bsecure that is a parent block type program. It got corrupted during all this mess so I completely uninstalled it here. rebooted, still no internet.
    Mbam-setup.exe installed, ran and will attach report.
    Combofix installed, report attached.
    Root repeal ran, got message "error invalid PE image found" but when I closed it I was able to run the scan I believe correctly so it will be attached in seperate post as to your limit of 4.
    MGTools installed, ran, will attach seperately also.
    STILL no internet. I did the repair option thru network connections a few times, rebooted, still nothing.
    IE, cannot connect, Foxfire - cannot find server
    I do believe there is a connection, as these programs were able to get updates, but something got messed up during this process for me just to connect regular. I also unplugged the ATT cable from back of the comp and let it reset. still nothing. I have no clue what needs to be adjusted to fix it.

    Awaiting your reply. At least we're in the homestretch.
    Thanks very much.

    First, it is a very bad idea to allow all users Admin. privileges!! Malware entering on an Admin account has free reign over everything.

    Users on this computer:
    Is Admin? | Username
    ------------------
    Yes | Administrator
    | Guest (Disabled)
    | HelpAssistant (Disabled)
    Yes | HP_Administrator
    Yes | little ones
    Yes | MOM

    Let's start with this:

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    * If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    RenV::
    c:\windows\system32\Event Agent\Bin\services .exe
    c:\windows\system32\Event Agent\Bin\smss .exe
    c:\windows\system32\Event Agent\Bin\spoolsv .exe

    Driver::
    System Event Agent

    File::
    c:\windows\system32\Event Agent\Bin\spoolsv .exe
    c:\windows\system32\WOEM_3_2awoem.tmp

    Folder::
    c:\documents and settings\MOM\Local Settings\Application Data\vdnaak

    Registry::
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "MSMSGS"=-

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "Event Agent"=-

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670}]

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670}\NoExplorer]

    [HKLM\~\services\sharedaccess\parameters\firewallpolicy\standardprofile\AuthorizedApplications\List]
    "c:\WINDOWS\system32\Event Agent\bin\services .exe"=-
    "c:\WINDOWS\system32\Event Agent\bin\spoolsv .exe"=-
    "c:\WINDOWS\system32\Event Agent\lite.exe"=-
    "c:\WINDOWS\system32\Event Agent\bin\smss .exe"=-

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    If it asks you to overide the prvevious file with the same name, click YES.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    [IMG]
    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run Ccleaner!

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\ComboFix.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    I followed your directions and am attaching the two logs you requested.
    We still cannot get an internet connection. I tried everything I possibly know to do so am relying on you to help me with that. It is desktop with a cable from the ATT uverse plugged in the back of the tower. not sure if I said before.
    I was previously the only Admin, but when this problem started and I had trouble removing the virus on my own, I thought perhaps if I opened all up to admin. I might have better luck getting rid of it. I plan to switch them back as soon as I can get it all good.
    Thanks Tim
    I am awaiting your reply.

    You have a proxy server set up. Did you do that? If you need to reset your proxy server settings, please follow this guide line. Proxy Server.
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:5555

    You can also try going to SAS / preferences / repairs / repair broken network connection.

    What is this:
    C:\Documents and Settings\MOM\Local Settings\Application Data\tjnet --> if you don't know, delete it.

    I don't know what this is, so let's rename it:
    c:\windows\system32\22CB96B3BA.sys ---> just add an .old extension so that it now is:
    c:\windows\system32\22CB96B3BA.sys.old

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.

    File::
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\WOEM_3_2a.sys
    c:\program files\Common Files\ovazymaxez.lib
    c:\program files\temp01
    c:\program files\wt3d.ini

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
