have Asus A7V8X-MX-SE motherboard, AMD AthlonXP2400+ CPU, 40gb HD, 256mb RAM, Windows XP Home+SP1.
when Windows is shutdown, numlock light on keyboard stays lit.
power supply is shutdown. no fans running, and no other lights are on.
clean installed Windows XP, and turned off the numlock in BIOS. system has installed Office 97, dialup, Finepix Viewer(for camera).
i think light is lit by software, but not sure.
anyone have any ideas on how to have the light turn off during Windows shutdown?

maybe its your keyboard that might be defective. does it turn off when you unplug your computers power? maybe you need to take apart your keyboard and clean it? i think it could be any number of things? dont think its software problem because its on after computer is off.

USB keyboard right? if it came with a ps2 adapter, use that instead.

also check the BIOS and make sure all the 'wake on' options are disabled. You may have wake on keyboard on, which would continue to send a small charge to the keyboard. maybe try turning off Legacy USB keyboard support in the BIOS as well.
