When I furst turn my system on, or logoff to switch users, I'm getting this
MS Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C\:windows\system32\nvvsvc.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
This started happening after I updated my Nvidia driver. My card is a 9800 GTX+
Driver is 8.17.12.7533, Everything seems to be working fine, but I'm concerned about this error. I've looked at the driver details and do not see this file name, so I'm guessing it may be related to the Nvidia Control panel since no matter what I do I can't access it. I've googled this error but can't find a for sure answer. Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Thanks. Hopefully this will help. Luckily my problems aren't near as bad as some of these peoples. I just clock ok and login and it's good. maybe I should leave well enough alone. Under services, the Nvidia display driver service, it says started, and automatic. but when I click restart, the runtime error comes back up just like I am logging in. Will it hurt to turn this service off?

 

I do not think it would hurt to turn it off. But, remember, it does affect Sleep and Hibernation so if you use these, don't touch it.

 

No, I turned that stuff off just after buying my system. Like 2 weeks after, and it stopped coming out of sleep mode. Had to repair windows etc.etc.
Maybe it' will fix it. I've tried searching for updated drivers, but it is saying theyare up to date. I'm updating them manually, maybe it'll help.
