Oblivion doesnt work!!

I have The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and i installed it with no problems. When i get into the main menu and press new game it freezes and i have to close the program by doing ctrl, alt and delete.

I have downloaded the lastest beta patch and it still doesnt work.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

 

Try the basic things like reinstalling it, updating your video and soundcard drivers, and make sure you are using the latest DirectX (9.0c).

BTW, what are your system specs?

 

I did all the things u said.

My specs are:

P4 3.0ghz
1 gb of ram
GeForce 7300 GS 256mb
80gb harddrive

 

I dont think it would cause it to freeze but a 7300gs is kinda underpowered to run Oblivion...

BTW, didnt you post about upgrading your video card? i thought u were getting a 7600gt instead of a 7300gs....w/e, maybe im wrong lol

 

A 7800 is a supported chip, so that shouldn't be the cause.

Did you use a driver cleaner when updating your video card drivers?

 

Quick question, how does that 7300 run? What other games do you have and how do they run?

ya but it didnt work on my ati x600 either and thats supported..

 

The problems may not be related.

You need to at least have hardware that's supported, then go from there.

 

Fixed the problem read a few forums on the oblivion website and i needed to uninstall Nero 7 to play. Its alittle strange but whatever.

Work great now with no problems!!
