Office 2007 opening up files that are then blank

hello. I write books as a hobby and I said to myself ok im going to write abit more now. The chapter im on is a vital part in the story.

When I went to open the file in question it appeared to be blank. The file itself was around 52.45Kb's in size and I had been writing in the file a week previous and saved it properly.
