ok Windows Media Locks up My entire PC

I didnt know how to fix this problem so i just downloaded winamp and went on with my mary little way but winamp rips cds at only 2x and i dont think it can sync mp3s players so i was wondering is thre anyway to fix my media player??
or is there one the Rips Cds and i can transfer music to my mp3 player btw its not an Ipod.

i get an error message the my vitrual memory is too low when i run Windows Media player even if its just that
