    Hello MG,

First off, thanks for everything you do. I've been using your site for years for software downloads and appreciate your hard work.

This initially started about 2 to 3 weeks ago when my Facebook account was hacked and I had posted several links to malicious code to my friends through their wall. I thought I had everything cleaned up (never found a virus.) and was in the clear to receive a call this morning from a friend saying that my World of Warcraft account (Which hasn't been activated in over a year.) was online.

I called and got that straightened out over the phone.

What worries me is that I scan my computer often, because it is a shared computer, and never seem to find anything. Most of the tool recommended here are tools that I use on a weekly/bi-weekly basis.

I am using Windows 7 64-bit and I was using AVG 9.0. After so many negative results from AVG I decided to switch to Avira but it to is showing nothing on radar.

I skipped a few of your tools as my OS is 64-bit.

Here are the files from my scans. Everything came back negative from what I can tell but I'm sure I'm overlooking something. While running the batch file for your little package of tools one of the programs crashed. I had no other option than to end the process. It appears that the rest finished out fine.

    Thanks ahead of time,

    Lucid

Your logs are clean, just a couple of non-malware related items to address now.

    1. Please go to Add and Remove programs and uninstall the following software:

    • Java(TM) 6 Update 17

    2. Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

    3. Use Windows Explorer to locate and delete the following bold directories:

    • C:\ProgramData\avg9
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\AVG

    4. Also delete all files in the below bold folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).
    • C:\Windows\TEMP
    • C:\Users\jaq\Local Settings\TEMP

    5. Now reboot your machine and install the most current and up to date version of Java available here at the below link:

    Java Runtime 6

    6. and finally...

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    3. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures in step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
