This is another one of those basssic videos just showing the general layout. It is not showing off any real special effects, or anything like that. I just wanted to make something for those who haven't seen Linux in action before and want to get a small taste. Novell's one-click install is truly amazing. It works, very, very well. Novell's Open Office is quite nice as well. Once I learn Latex, I might drop Office 2007 altogether.

While it still needs work, as you can see it is very polished. I could almost go so far to say more polished than Ubuntu.

It won't look like this out of the box, really. I spent a lot of time tweaking fonts, and other things to get a nice look.

http://adrynalyne.colemanguy.com/out-1.ogv ~45mb. There are some artifacts after some of the windows "beam" up, but its just because I lowered the video quality and framerate for size reasons.

You will need something like VLC player to play it.

    1. I installed freetype2 w/ autohinter patch.
2 I installed Liberation fonts, and Dejavu for Firefox3. I set my desktop to Liberation sans bold.
    3. I installed the latest Compiz-Fusion 0.7.6 http://en.opensuse.org/Compiz_Fusion I set the cube deformation to cylinder, and cube rotation to inside cube. I also set minimize and open windows to beam effect.
    4. I set all menus to a 10% transparency via Compiz and gconf-editor.
    5. I installed this gtk2 theme: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Blue-Junior0.9-9?content=72003
    6. I installed these icons: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/black-white+2+Neon?content=72620
    7. I made symlinks from my fonts, icons and themes directories to the root home folder to theme everything, including things accessed via su or sudo.
    8. I use metacity, so I used gconf-editor to enable transparency in title bars.
    9. I am sure I have missed stuff.
