Over the next few days, I am going to be upgrading my mobo from a msi neo platinum 2 to an asus a8n32-mvp and my graphics card from an x800 xl agp to a x1900xt pcie ... I know windows is best reinstalled if possible with any significant hardware change, but does anyone see significant problems if i just cleaned out the old mobo/gpu drivers and updated to the new ones only?

Not my area of expertise, but in my experience a mobo change requires a repair install at the very least!

Thanks for your repsonse Gecks. As another question to put out there, is it worth keeping my audigy 2 card in the new mobo, or should i use alc882 sound. I know that current onboard solutions don't carry as much overhead as they used to, but is the aging soundblaster still up to par with this chip?

I'de keep the Audigy, I'm pretty sure that it's higher quality. As for the Windows re-install, the motherboard are not only different types, but their made by completely different companies. I wouldn't suggest changing the hardware without reinstalling windows. Not only will the drivers act funny, but you'de be lucky to get windows to boot at all.

Thanks again guys. I backup up all my stuff to a few dvds and will do a reinstall of windows when the new graphics card comes in, then. I will also keep the sound card in the system, instead of using onboard. I may test both those sound configurations to see which performs better in the future.
