~~*Opinions on Laptop*~~

While I'm here saving for my new 7600gt gfx cards my gf bought a new laptop from Dell. I asked her to throw in a Mobile gfx card for me( for those rainy days) and were anxiously awaiting its arrival. Im asking for your opinions on what type of games I can expect to play and your opinion of its performance with online games( such as FEAR). The whole package was only $840.00US. I figured the gfx card is crap because of the cheap price( 25.00 extra).

For $840, that's good. Maybe I would've expected a dvd rw drive, and possibly an 80gb drive?

Other than that, good buy

 

Yeh, the DVDRW would have been nice but I really never ever burn DVDs ...and I did want a larger HDD( possibly a 100gb) but Dell was asking waaay to much for that. But the memory was a free upgrade from a 512mb to 1gb( great deal there) plus there was no shipping

ok, well as far as the laptop goes for playin games such as F.E.A.R, it should do ok.

 

Thx for the reply Prankz, the laptop is not really for games( for school) but I wanted it to be capable of playing games if necessary. Glad to know it will work.

FEAR is one of those games that really can put a hurting on even beefy comps but I would think you should have no problem playing the game at maybe medium quality settings? I know my old 9800Pro played it ok at medium settings and a X1300Pro is slightly better than the 9800Pro (X1300Pro Desktop) Now I know this is a x1300 mobil but I bet it does fine. having 1GB of memory really helps too! Hope it works great for ya.

 

Thx for the reply Lube, yeh after getting my first desktop with 1gig of memory I will never go back to 512. Thx for the info on the gfx card, even after looking at PCmags reviews I was still alittle iffy about it. It says it supports ShaderModel 3.0 so I figured it would run some new games but not many and not for long.
