Opinions on this combination of malware protection?

Any thoughts on the following combinations and are there any likely conflicts?

-Zonealarm (free version) for firewall (always on)

-AVG Free edition on desktop, Symantec AV Corp Ed 10 on laptop for main anti-virus protection, respectively. Symantec comes with real-time protection, not sure about AVG b/c I just installed it after Symantec got killed on my desktop. (always on, except I turn real-time protection off when it hogs too much memory that I need for other things, or when I run another anti-virus program)

    -Ad-Aware 2007 (free ed) - scans once a week when I remember

-a^2 free (just installed, still deciding its role)

-Spybot + SD Resident (on for now, but still deciding. I stopped using it earlier because it found nothing that Ad-Aware didn't find, and notices about reg changes every time I install something are beginning to bug me).

-HijackThis v2 (I run it once a week if I remember or suspect something)

    -Spyware Blaster

-Sentinel (though I'm still deciding whether it's safe to use it for shutdowns, etc with win XP - is it up-to-date?)

    -ThreatFire for rootkits

-Sophos Anti-Rootkit and gmer, but the former cannot scan my system for some reason (on either computer), and I don't know how to interpret the latter. Threatfire does a registry rootkit scan though.

-Ccleaner (I run it every now and then)

-RegScrubXP (RegSeeker is too aggressive for me, erased too much when I tried it and I had to repair HP's Embedded Security).

-Diskeeper Lite for defrags once a week or so.

-and bunch of non-active freeware virus programs and other basic utilities that I only run if necessary (Panda, Norman, Remover, RRT, Stinger,...)

Note: I recently installed FolderLock (locks & hides folders) because I don't want visitors/guests who use my computer to accidentally see the naked pics I took with my girlfriend, among other things.

So how's that? Something got past Symantec recently, and undid my Sygate firewall from there, and disabled everything, except HJT and those small programs you can just run without installing first (Norman Malware Cleaner was great, for example). I don't want to have too many active programs crowding my computers, so feel free to suggest changes. As for the Symantec AV that was free and semi-required by the university (I'm a grad student).

Too much protection can be as bad as too little. Look at that thread and see how it compares with your list.
