OS restarts on browser shutdown

Greetings. My Win XP SP2 restarts when I close my last browser page. IE 6 or Mozilla, and Limewire which I think uses IE. Everyone says virus, format. I'd rather try to find it; I get educated. I've tried the orthodox AV's direct & online, some rootkits; no V ! I've DL'd "READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support" with all the info & sotware . I'll try it, BUT <<could there be other reasons for the restarts? >> Please.

OK. First thing I'd do:

Then I'd exit outta your browser, as you did in the first post, and then give us what your possible BSOD (Blue screen of Death) error is.

 

PFC Golly Gee to Brass: No restarts any more, no back to default scenarios as happened before. I close browsers and upset P2P P's with impunity. That shouldn't be it, is it? Thanks tremendosly and seriously.

 

Interesting. My suggestion was merely to see what error you got upon the unexcepted reboot. Glad things are going better now. Odd..
