overheat issue..... HP laptop cpu fan

    I have an HP laptop N515O. The cpu fan won't work, it pulses on startup, runs for approx. 1-2 seconds and shuts down. I replaced it, and the same. Used arctic silver thermal compound, so I can get about an hour out of it b-4 it overheats. any ideas how to get it working ?? HP told me to take it to service tech...... that is last on my list.
