Overheating laptop

Anyone have the problem of their laptop overheating and rebooting with a physical memory dump because the fans were ineffective in cooling them down.

I have a Presario 2500 series with 256MG RAM

I downloaded a hard drive temperature utility that shows my system's temp climbs steadily from 21-25 at sign-on to the mid-40s where it often "explodes"

The fan comes on, but doesn't cool off the system

The temp app helped in that I will turn the laptop off for a while if it gets too hot, but there's gotta be a way to fix the fan or cool off the chips a bit.

 

you can buy a laptop cooler which is basicly a pad with fans on it that goes beneath the laptop, it might help

do to lack of airflow inside them

and it may be dust in side also [dust is a real killer]

It may be a "feature" of the model. Contact the makers, whether or not it is under warranty, and insist they do something about it. Never know, you might get some action to help you. Bazza
