My friend recently had a "Downloader" virus. He used Norton for 10 years.
Always getting hit with some kind of Virus. Of course, I always tell him what not to do and so on. Always said to NOT use Norton but some people are just stubborn.

He came to me with this Downloader Virus. "NORTON" would not tell me any information on this virus. No name or really anything. Wouldn’t let me Quarantine it. Remove it? "NO"

Hours of research on the internet with basically ending up at a dead end.

End of story. I uninstalled “Norton”
Installed AVG Free which detected yes “Downloader” but gave me a virus name.
    “Generic2.DJJ”
Did a scan and low and behold. “would you like to delete this Trojan?
Yes I would. Sure enough it worked.

Believe me I did all sorts of dos mode, safemode, and everything else as ive worked on PC’s for 10 years. I find my self being very good with getting rid of Virus’s.

I then did my ritualistic installation of Firefox and deleted every single shortcut possible to IE (aka) Exploiter.

    Moral of the story.
People please. Quit paying for “SYMANTEC” or “NORTON” Product in hopes that these products are going to.
    #1 Keep you safe
#2 Get rid of Virus’s when needed.

Plain and simple they just don’t work.

Ive been using “Anti Virus Guard Free” since the 1st month it became somewhat popular and I have NEVER had a virus it wouldn’t remove.

Also beware of all these other Spyware products out there.
Which was another cause of all this.

Use SpyBot Search & Destroy and be done with it.
You think your doing something good by either buying or pirtating these expensive programs. Do yourself a favor like I do and Donate to the free guys. “THEY WORK”

    Thanks for reading.

You may be interested, and benefit from reading one (or more!):) of our Sticky threads: How to Protect yourself from malware! Utilizing one AV app and SpyBot is unrealistic by today's standards. You really do need a little more than that as what one app doesn't detect another will.:)
